Lauren Cucinotta

I'm the Branding + Editorial Manager for TEDx, an initiative of TED, which lets individuals around the world host TED-like events to highlight the amazing voices from their community.

I manage the branding/positioning of TEDx events, and TEDx editorial. I work to provide internal resources to organizers and strategize on how to sustainably grow our global community.

I also share the amazing stories, talks and images from these events on the TEDx Tumblr

Before that, I ran Pie in the Park, a yearly event in Prospect Park, published a book through a Kickstarter campaign, hosted a pie event in collaboration with Kickstarter at Smorgasburg in Williamsburg. I directed the creation of the Doyle & Doyle e-commerce website and built a marketing + communications strategy to go with it.

I'm interested in the local on a global scale, community building, and how new technologies and new media can make that easier.

I love learning, yoga, reading and travel.

I'm American, je parle Francais et eu estou aprendando portugues.

It takes away their [women’s] right, their dignity, their ability to make decisions… We feel that this can’t go unaddressed.

From Janet Creps, via an article on Al Jazeera English: Abortion top issue for many US women voters.

Creps is one of the lead attorneys on the case against a provision on the HB 2036 bill in Arizona that would restrict abortions from occurring past 20 weeks gestational age. (Based on the idea that a fetus can feel pain at this age, and its rights are therefore covered by the state.)

On November 5th, her and other lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union and the Centre for Reproductive Rights will argue before a three-judge panel in San Francisco that the provision is unconstitutional.

Creps also says that this viability provision displays “unbridled hostility” towards a women’s right to choose.
